Alford Bennett Chapman

Alford Bennett “A.B.” Chapman, 92, of Hilliard, FL passed away at his home February 21, 2023.  He was born December 7, 1930 in Sylvester, GA to the late Cecil Chapman and Mary Elizabeth McDonald Chapman.  Following high school, Mr. Chapman proudly served his country in the US Air Force.  He retired as an Air Traffic Controller in 1981 with 30 years of service.  He was a faithful member of Hilliard First Baptist Church where he served as deacon.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Doris Inez Spradley Chapman, and his sister:  Nell Shiver.

He is survived by his children:  Mary Sharon (Charles) Cribbs, Connie Sue (Donnie) Nelson and Michael Bennett (Tania) Chapman; 3-brothers:  Melvin Chapman, Wayne (Caroline) Chapman and Bruce (Sheila) Chapman; a sister:  Vivian (Carl) Nandrasy; 7-grandchildren; 15-great grandchildren and 3-great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside funeral will be held Tuesday, February 28 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Ryan Mason officiating in Oakwood Cemetery.  The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the cemetery.
