Bobby R Spence

Bobby R. Spence, 83, of Brunswick, GA passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2024. He was born in Lyons, GA on October 24, 1940 to the late Melvin Spence and Leo Rewis Spence Prevatt. Bobby served in the United States Marines. He loved fishing and woodworking. When his kids were younger, he was a volunteer coach with the Glynn County Recreation Department. He worked with the City of Brunswick Police Department for 2 years. He retired from Hercules Corporation in 2001 after 34 years.

In addition to his parents, he is proceeded in death by a brother; J.D. Spence.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years; Mary Alice Elder Spence, 4-children; Vicki Adams, Scott (Charlene) Spence, Neal (Joy) Spence, and Mark (Amy) Spence, 7-grandchildren; Brooke (Cory) Maurer, Mark (Amy) Bonner, Meghan (Ben) Jollie, Emily Spence, Sarah Spence, Zoe Spence, and Abby Spence, 6-great-granchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at Shepard-Roberson Funeral Home in Folkston, GA with Bro. Nathan Ire officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Corinth Cemetery in Charlton County. Pallbearers will be Chris Stewart, JJ Jones, Jimmy Shattuck, Charles Skipper, Cory Maurer, and Mark Bonner.
