Connie Warren Johnson

June 22, 1955 — February 21, 2023

Connie Warren Johnson, age 67, went to his heavenly home on February 21st after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Connie loved the Lord, his family and church. He was a member at First Avenue Baptist Church in Hilliard, FL. Connie’s strength and faith in God allowed him to survive 5 years with terminal cancer. He enjoyed his time spent bowling with his church team. He also enjoyed family vacations spent in the mountains of Tennessee and North Georgia – especially visiting the Dillard House. He thrived in staying busy, even throughout his illness he enjoyed mowing the grass at home, church and the family cemetery where he served as a member of the board. He never turned down the opportunity to help someone in need and never missed being part of the annual “Hilliard Town Clean Up.”

Connie was preceded in death by his parents: Connie Lee “Dickie” and Barbara Lloyd Johnson; his brother: Robert L. Johnson; his son: Scott Warren Johnson; and his stepdaughter: Joleen Jensen Cummings.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years: Ann Chalifoux Johnson; daughter: Sonya (Shaun) Cooley; stepson: Jacob Jensen; stepdaughter: Justine (Ryan) Brown; 7 grandchildren: Taylor, Holli, Jadyn, Kylee, Jaxon, Brayden and Easton; brothers: Mark (Dawn) Johnson and Michael (Aimee) Johnson; and several nieces and nephews.

Connie was born on June 22, 1955 in Folkston, GA and raised in Hilliard, FL. He was a 1973 graduate of West Nassau High School. After graduating, he served in the US Army, 3rd Armor Division from 1973 to 1976 where he earned the ranking of Sergeant and was stationed in Germany. He worked with his father and brothers at the family-owned business “Johnson’s Auto Electric” in Hilliard, FL & Kingsland, GA. His greatest passion was his dedication and devotion to Law Enforcement where he spent over 45 years serving his community. During those years, Connie worked as a police officer for the town of Hilliard and then went on to work for Nassau County Sheriff’s Office where he started as a patrol deputy and worked his way through the rankings until retiring as Director of Jail and Courthouse Operations in 2020.

Connie will be remembered as an excellent example of a man that was a pillar in his community and a strong foundation for the family that he loved dearly. He will be greatly missed by family, friends and all that knew him.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 23, 2023 from 6 to 8 PM at Shepard-Roberson Funeral Home, Folkston, GA. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Friday, February 24, 2023 at First Avenue Baptist Church, Hilliard, FL. Burial will follow at Conner-Green Cemetery.
