Denise Ann McGranahan

Denise Ann Dunn McGranahan entered into the arms of our Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 31, 2026. She was born in Massena, New York and was raised in Norfolk, New York by her parents the late Darwin and Anna Casey Dunn. She was a 1973 graduate of Norwood-Norfolk Central High School. As an adult, she embraced the work force and held positions at many organizations such as Lockheed Martin and State Farm while she raised her family and supported her military husband. Being a military wife gave her the ability to live in many places including Bremerton, Washington; Folkston, Georgia; Honolulu, Hawaii; and Bealeton, Virginia. She and her husband Barry enjoyed retirement in Roundup, Montana. As a child she attended St. Raymond Catholic Church, but she most recently attended St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Montana.

Denise loved being a part of her church, especially singing in the choir. She also found joy in crocheting and quilting, making numerous blankets. She would get started on a blanket as soon as any new baby was announced. She and Barry shared a love of bowling and played on a team for many years. They even traveled to nationals with their team numerous times. Life brought Denise many health issues, including Multiple Sclerosis, but she never let them keep her from enjoying her hobbies.

In addition to her parents, Darwin and Anna Dunn, Denise was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Samantha Newvine, and a brother, Daniel Dunn.

She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Barry McGranahan; her children: Brian (Sara) Newvine of Bremerton, Washington; Craig (Natalie) Newvine of Folkston, Georgia; Derek Newvine of Moultrie, Georgia; Rebecca Newvine of New Iberia, Louisiana; and Jennifer Newvine Ragland of Louisa, Virginia; and her husband’s children Kevin (Justine) McGranahan of Folkston, Georgia; Kelli (Michael) Lloyd of Folkston, Georgia; and Keith (Alison) McGranahan of Biloxi, Mississippi; her grandchildren Joey (Drea) Todd, Molly Todd, Calvin Newvine, Kalianne Newvine, Joshua Newvine, Violet Grijalva, Wade (Irene) Schaef, Katrina (Nathan) Rutledge, Taylor Flora, Morgan (Trey) Cribb, Ethen McGranahan, and Kelsey McGranahan. She had four great-grandchildren with one more on the way. She is also survived by her brother, Darwin (Patricia) Dunn, of Payson, Arizona and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Folkston, Georgia, on Tuesday, April 7, at 10 AM. Following the funeral mass, cremation will take place.

Arrangements are under the direction of Shepard-Roberson Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or the American Cancer Society.
