Diane Drury

June 2, 1951 — September 27, 2024

Sylvania

Diane V. Drury, 73, of Sylvania, GA passed away at her home on Friday, September 27, 2024. She was born in Folkston, GA on June 2, 1951, to the late Ivan Taylor Hickox and Vannie Chesser Hickox. Diane and her husband, Pedro, were members of Red Bluff Baptist Church in Sylvania, GA.

Diane enjoyed organizing holiday and birthday dinners for her family because she believed that time spent with family was time well spent. She enjoyed cooking from scratch, with her specialties being dressing and chicken and dumplings for Thanksgiving dinner. She always made the holidays so special, and they will not be the same without her.

Diane loved to write poetry and had beautiful penmanship. She had quite a sweet tooth and enjoyed frozen Peppermint Patties, Double Stuff Oreos, Pinwheels Chocolate and Marshmallow Cookies, Orange Circus Peanuts, jawbreakers by the gross, and soft peppermints, just to name a few. She drank Maxwell House coffee, but only out of her favorite Melmac cups, even taking one with her to restaurants or on trips so that she always had her coffee her way. She also loved her "Petey" fiercely and he loved his "Darlin'", but above all, Diane loved God, her personal Lord and Savior. She was a Christian through and through and knew that when she took her final breath on this Earth, she would be standing in the presence of the Lord.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers: Herschel Hickox, W.C. Hickox, and Raymond Hickox; and a sister: Juanita Reynolds.

Left to deeply mourn her passing is her loving husband of 43 years: Allen “Pedro” Drury; children: Anthony Dale Hickox, Angelia Delice Furr (Terry), Kendra Lynn Jackson (Dana), James Allen Drury, Mary Lynnette Drury, and Tracy Rebecca Lloyd (Mitchell); grandchildren: Nikki, Jake, Anthony, Leanna, Bill, Katie, Deanna, William, Dustin, Madison, Emily, Isabella, Baylee, Samantha, Alysea, and Shammar; sisters: Edna Hoskins, Evelyn Scott, and Juanell Lee; a dear friend: Mildred Johns; childhood friends: Merline Thomas and Carolyn Deloach; 24 great-grandchildren plus 1 due to arrive in October; 1 great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members who loved and adored her.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at Shepard-Roberson Funeral Home. A service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 4, 2024, at Shepard-Roberson Funeral Home with Pastor Spike Albritton and Pastor Nathan Irre officiating. Burial will follow at Homeland Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jake Carter, Nathan Brantley, Bryant Brantley, Terry Furr, Dustin Higginbotham, and Bill Musgrove.
