Donald Erwin Dykes, 61, of St. George, passed away August 26, 2014. He was born August 30, 1952. He graduated from Callahan High School and Joined the Army where he served from 1971-1977. He studied for 2 years at Embry Riddle for 2 years before beginning to work for Delta. He retired with 25 years of faithful service as an Inspector for Delta. He moved back to St. George in 2006. He loved fishing and hunting and helping in the community. He was a Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Barnesville, GA.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Vernie Dykes and his father: Leo Dykes.
He is survived by his 4-Daughters: Pia Dykes, Xenia Dykes, Eve Parks & Toni Ross; his mother & step-father: Nina & Bob Dillon; 4-Brothers: Leo, Wayne, Dwight & Kevin Dykes; 9-Grandchildren; 3-Great Grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Saturday, August 30 at Shepard Funeral Home from 6-8 Pm. Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 31 at 3:00 PM at First Baptist Church of St. George with Rev. Ray McKendree and Rev. James Conner officiating. Burial will follow in Boones Creek Cemetery with Military Honors.
