Earl Nettles, Sr.

Earl Eugene Nettles, Sr., 81, passed away Tuesday, February 15, 2022 in Jacksonville, FL.  He was born November 2, 1940 in Folkston, GA to the late John Carlo Nettles and Rachel Inez Hickox Nettles.  He was a member of the Clay Hill Church of God.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife:  Betty Joyce Searles Nettles; a son:  Matthew Nettles; 2 grandsons:  John Nettles and Kevin Michael Nettles; a granddaughter:  Rebecca Snowden; 5-sisters:  Hazel Capps, Doris Vanacor, Janice Harris, Wanda Fife and Linda Gail Cooler and 8-brothers:  L.C. Nettles, Jimmy Nettles, Walter Nettles, Roy Nettles, Curtis Nettles, Cleveland Nettles, Bo Nettles and William Nettles.

He is survived by his children:  Sharon N. Edmunds, Lois N. (Billy) Pickett, Earl E. (Brenda) Nettles, Jr., John F. (Suzete) Nettles, Joseph S. (Thi) Nettles and James (DeeDee) Nettles; 16-grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; 3-great great grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

The family will receive friends Friday, February 18 at Shepard-Roberson Funeral Home from 6-8 PM.  Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 19 at 11:00 AM at the Folkston Church of God with Rev. Jeff Crawley and Rev. Mitchell Snowden officiating.  Burial will follow in Little Phoebe Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Nettles, Steven Nettles, Joey Nettles, Richard Nettles, Austin Nettles, Leland Nettles, Colby Rhoden and Celton Rhoden.
