Elbert LaRoche

Elbert Smith LaRoche know as ( Pete ) 80 of Hilliard passed away April 1, 2009.

He was born June 10, 1928 in Waycross, Georgia to Frank Isaac and Juno Smith LaRoche. He served his Country in the United States Air force. He retired after twenty three and a half years with General Electric.

He was a barber at Eunice Barber shop in Waycross Georgia. He also worked along side his Father Frank in their shop on Reed Street in Waycross were they repaired TV's, radios, clocks watches as well as blacksmith work.

Mr. LaRoche was a member of the American Legion in Waycross, Georgia and also in Jacksonville, Florida. Pete loved riding his motorcycle and collecting watches to repair.

Mr.LaRoche was also CB Ham operator and used his radio to transmit messages to military personnel to family members.

He attended Live Oak Baptist Church of Hilliard, Florida. Pete accepted Christ as his Savior shortly before his death.

Survivors : his wife Ethel Virginia Inman Laroche of 53 years: also from Waycross , residing in Hilliard Florida , Two Sons: Elbert Dennis LaRoche of Jacksonville and Frank William LaRoche (Laura) of Hilliard; Daughter: Ethel Connie Laroche Pittman (Tim) of Jacksonville; Three Grandchildren: Mitchell Cody Pittman of Jacksonville, Racheal Elizabeth Pittman of Jacksonville, and Jennifer Alexis Laroche of Hilliard; one sister: Mary Frances Megginson of Birmingham, Al.; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

The family will receive friends, Saturday, April 4 at Live Oak Baptist Church beginning at 2:00 PM. Funeral services will begin at 3:00 PM with Rev. Steve Wolgamott officiating. Burial will follow in the Church cemetery.
