Elsie Faye Hughes

Elsie Faye Davis Goolsby Hughes, 95, of Callahan, FL passed away on Saturday, September 29, 2023. She was born in Talmo, GA on December 29, 1927 to the late William B. Davis and Mattie Stover Davis. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Gray Gables in Callahan. In her early years, she was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Jacksonville, FL where she taught Sunday School and was a member of W.M.U. She was employed in various retail sales and food services.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph T. Hughes.

She is survived by her 3-children; Larry (Peggy) Goolsby of Tennessee, Brenda (Bob) Burgess of Callahan, FL, and Faydale (Jim) Simpson of Hilliard, FL, 9-grandchildren, 23-great-grandchildren, 8-great-great-grandchildren, 2-great-great-great-grandchildren, and numerous neices and nephews.

A service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at First Baptist Church of Gray Gables in Callahan with Pastor Cody Page and grandson Rev. Timothy Burgess officiating. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens in Jacksonville, FL. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
