Emily Conner

Emily Conner, beloved mother and grandmother, entered her heavenly rest at the age of 102 on May 16, 2025. She was a shining example of a Proverbs 31 Christian wife and mother, guiding her family with faith, love, and wisdom.

Emily was the devoted wife of the late James Dane Conner, with whom she eloped on July 4, 1940. They were married for 58 years and together, they built a life filled with love and blessings, raising seven children: Mary (Floyd) Vanzant, Donnie (Joan) Conner, Norval (Judy) Conner, Jimmy (Wanda) Conner, Lena (Charles) Johns, Bill (Cathy) Conner and Daphne (Sam) Pickren.

Emily had many talents—she was a gifted seamstress, a meticulous bookkeeper for the family logging business for over 50 years, and an exceptional cook. Her meals were cherished by all who had the privilege of sitting at her table. She was a gracious woman who welcomed many into her heart and home with open arms.

She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Davis; her birth mother, Evalina Swearingen Davis; her earthly mother, Vida Swearingen Davis; eight siblings; and her great-great-granddaughter, Aspyn Johns.

Emily was a proud grandmother to 21 grandchildren -Micah, Vickie, Tara, Kevin, Jamie, Gannon, Jason, Tammi, Traci, Becka, Amy, Sheri, Krista, Erin, Emy, Clay, Garrett, Dana, Joe Dan, James Byron, Anna, 46 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 21 at Shepard-Roberson Funeral Home in Folkston, GA from 5-7 P.M. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at Nathalene Primitive Baptist Church in Hilliard, FL. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers: Micah Vanzant, Clay Vanzant, Kevin Johns, Jamie Conner, Gannon Conner, Garrett Conner, Jason Johns, Joe Dan Pickren, James Byron Conner. Honorary Pallbearers: Latrell Murphy, Belva Lee, Deleine Hendrickson, M.R. Altman, Twain Conner, Linda Reeves, Terry Wingate, Wayne Wingate.

The Conner family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate caregivers who provided love and care for Emily in her final days, including the staff at the Seasons Division of Lake Crossings Senior Care in Kingsland, GA, Visiting Angels, and Georgia Hospice Care.
