January 4, 1920 — August 5, 2007

Mrs. Frances Julius Bauknight Nash, 87, of Folkston, GA, passed away Sunday morning, August 5 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center, Jacksonville. Mrs. Nash was a long time resident of Charlton County. She was born January 4, 1920 to Julius and Queen Ann Elizabeth Bauknight of Cross Creek, FL. She graduated salutatorian of her class from Hawthorne High, and later married Edward Nash, Sr., of Hawthorne in 1941. Mrs. Nash moved with her husband and children to Jacksonville. Mr. Nash worked for Humphries Mining Company, and he and Mrs. Nash and their family moved to Folkston with the company in 1965. They lived here until 2004, when Mr. Nash’s sudden illness made it necessary to move to Blackshear to live with one of their daughters. After his death later that year, she moved to Glen St. Mary, Fl, to live with another daughter until her death. Mrs. Nash is probably best remembered as being the quiet support of her beloved family and friends. She was a founding member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, where she was extremely active until she moved from Charlton. Mrs. Nash was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Edward Nash, Sr.; her son, Edward Nash, Jr.; her sisters, Louise Bauknight and Annie Melvin; brothers George Bauknight and John Henry Bauknight; and several brothers and sisters-in-law who were very dear to her. She is survived by her daughters Olivia (Jim) Groves of Belle Glade, FL, Louise (Charles) Walker of Blackshear, GA, Kathryn (Bill) Taylor of Glen St. Mary, FL, and Mary (Art) Fouraker of Folkston; two sisters-in-law, Louise Bauknight of Cross Creek and Josephine Nash Davis of Savannah, GA; brother-in-law Bill Reynolds of Crescent City, FL; 10 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; many nieces and nephews, and a host of friends, all who were very dear to her. A rosary will be held Wednesday, August 8, at 6:00 pm at Shephard Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday morning, August 9, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with Father Gabe Cummings officiating. Burial will follow in Pineview Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Derek Taylor, Travis Fuhlendorf, Chad Taylor, Alex Fouraker, Clay Taylor, and Bill Taylor. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Baxter, Charles Walker, Arthur Fouraker, Jim Groves, Steven Groves, and Butch Crews.
