Gerald Elderage Padgett, 71, of Hilliard, FL passed away Sunday, January 31, 2021 in Jacksonville, FL following a lengthy illness. He was born September 23, 1949 in Brooker, FL to the late A. Z. Padgett and Myrtice Tillman Padgett. He proudly served his country in the US Army. He was a truck driver for a number of years until his health forced his retirement.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings: Marcia Fletcher, Patricia Crews and Edward Padgett.
He is survived by his wife: Melody Powell Padgett of Hilliard, FL; children: Elaine (Gary) Starling of Macclenny, FL, Lori Royal of Macclenny, FL, Kayla Padgett of Hilliard, FL and Gerald Padgett of Hilliard, FL; siblings: Azie Lee Allhart of Jesup, GA, Norma Lee Finley of Starke, FL, Miriam Padgett of Folkston, GA, Linda (Darrell) Hall of Jesup, GA and Larry (Louise) Padgett of Folkston, GA; 3-grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 5 at 11:00 AM in the Shepard-Roberson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gerald Wollitz officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the funeral at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Buford Grove Cemetery with military honors.
Due to Covid-19, the family would like to ask all attendees to please follow the rules of social distancing and face masks are recommended at the service. Also, anyone that does not feel comfortable with attending the service, the family would like for you to know they understand and covet your prayers.
