James Hannaford

June 11, 1953 — November 19, 2018

James Michael Hannaford, 65, of Folkston, Georgia passed away November 19, 2018 in Brunswick, Georgia following a brief illness.  He was born June 11, 1953 in Jacksonville, Florida.  He was a graduate of Charlton County High School and Mercer University.  He received dual master’s degrees from the University of Kentucky.  Mr. Hannaford has been employed as a Professor of English and German for the past 25 years at the Coastal College of Georgia.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Barbara P. Hannaford; his parents, J.O and Jackie Hannaford; three loving step-children, Maggie Tucker, Michael (Jamie) Tucker and Ashley (Michael) Hughes; a sister:  Jeanne (Don) Crews; and six grandchildren:  Jordan Rowe, Cain Drury, Lilly Tucker, Grayson Tucker, Graham Hughes and Nolan Hughes.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday, November 21 at 1:30 PM at the First Baptist Church of Folkston, Georgia with William Garlen officiating.  Memorialization will be by cremation.

Donations may be made in Michael’s honor to the James M. Hannaford Memorial Scholarship at Coastal College of Georgia or the Southeast Georgia Health System Nunally House.

Condolences may be expressed by signing the guest registry at www.shepardfh.com.  Arrangements are under the direction of Shepard-Roberson Funeral Home in Folkston, Georgia.
