James William Davis of Folkston, GA passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2024. He was born in Corpus Christi, TX on March 18, 1947, to the late Norman Junior Davis and Emma Elizabeth Schneider Davis. He received his B.S. from Rose Hulman Institute of Technology. James served in the US Army including a tour of duty in Vietnam and several years in the Florida National Guard where he retired as a captain. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Bronze Star.
He was a member of Folkston Methodist Church for many years. During that time he served as choir director, choir member, lay leader and member of the Methodist Men’s class. He was active in the Boy Scouts with his son and grandsons.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years: Marsha Duvall Davis; his children: Edwin Davis (Rebecca) and Iona Manes; sister: Lisa Odehnal; sister-in-law: Diane Wilkerson; grandchildren: Dylan Manes, Matthew Manes (Casey), Caroline Davis Kelsey (Justin), and James Davis; great-grandchild: Charlie Manes; niece: Christine Pencook; and great-niece: Shyanne Pencook.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 14, 2024, at Folkston Global Methodist Church with Rev. Robby Paulk officiating The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Homeland Cemetery with full military honors.
