JEAN SPENCE BUCHANAN

Jean Orrizelle Spence Buchanan, 83, of Kingsland, GA, passed away March 28, 2015 at the Senior Care Center in St. Mary’s, Georgia.  She was born April 30, 1931 to the late Julian Crews and Laura Lloyd Crews.  She began her teaching career in Camden County, the moved to Charlton County for several years and then returned to Camden County.  She retired in 1993 as a Media Specialist with the Camden County School System.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Kingsland.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband:  Gordon Spence; a daughter:  Vicki Lynette Spence; and a brother:  LaVerne Crews.
She is survived by her husband:  Robert Buchanan; a son:  Gregory W. Spence; 3-Sisters:  Leola Crews, Leona Brisbane & Anita Turner; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The family will receive friends Monday, March 30 at Shepard Funeral Home from 6-8 PM.  Funeral services will be held Tuesday March 31 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Shepard Funeral Home.  Mrs. Spence-Buchanan will lie in state beginning at 12:00 PM.  Burial will follow in Homeland Cemetery.
