Joann Chancey Phillips, 76, of Athens, GA passed away Friday, August 18, 2023 at her home following a lengthy illness. She was born October 4, 1946 in Folkston, GA to the late Marvin J. Chancey and Alice Mizell Chancey. Mrs. Phillips lived in Folkston most of her life before moving to Athens to be closer to her daughters. She was a member of the Folkston Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband of almost 59 years: Jimmy Phillips; 2-daughters: Mary Alice Gallant and her husband, Marc and Marci Clifford; a brother and sister-in-law: Marvin and Linda Chancey; 5-grandchildren: Gus, Ollie, Mary Mizell, JoJo, and Daisey and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The family will receive friends Sunday, August 20 at Shepard-Roberson Funeral Home from 5-7 PM. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 21 at 11:00 AM in the Shepard-Roberson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Benji Varnell officiating. Burial will be in Burnt Fort Cemetery.
