Lydia Alene Carter Nelson, 83 of Folkston passed away April 3, 2016 at her residence. She was born December 29, 1932 in Racepond, Georgia to Allen and Eyre Crews Carter. She was the Secretary for Johnson Logging for ten years. Alene was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary, and a member of Newell Baptist Church.
She is survived by her children: Daughters: Teresa Togin (Torin) of Atlanta, GA; Renise Lloyd (Timmy) of Folkston, GA; Norma Baker of Yulee, FL; Connie Nelson of Yulee, FL; Son: Allen Nelson (Elise) of Burnt Fort, GA; 9 Grandchildren; 9 Great-grandchildren; a brother; Harvin Carter (Kay) of Folkston; a sister: Lillian Crews of Jesup, GA; Several nieces, nephews and other relatives and lifelong friend and caregiver: Alan Shane. She was preceded in death by her husband: James L. Nelson, Sr. and a son: James L. Nelson, Jr.
Pallbearers will be Corey Nelson, Carter Nelson, Travis Baker, Connor Nelson, Brian Edenfield and Brett Edenfield.
Graveside services will be Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at 1:00PM in Racepond Cemetery with Rev. Keith Lloyd officiating. The family request in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Hospice of the Golden Isles, 1492 Glynco Parkway, Brunswick, Georgia.
