Marie Ann Tanner Wood, 84 passed away January 12, 2024, after an extended illness. She was born at home on a farm where she was raised in Nicholls, GA to Albert Theodore "Bear" Tanner and Eula Lo (Cribb) Tanner on October 12, 1939. She married John Edward "Ed" Wood on October 7, 1958 in Folkston, GA.
Marie was a loving wife, devoted mother, doting Grandmother and Great-grandmother, excellent cook, fun-loving friend and animal lover. She was a Christian of the Baptist faith.
Marie was predeceased by her parents, husband Ed, older siblings Wynette Thomas, Jean Chaffin and Albert Theodore "Bobby" Tanner; daughter Wendy Bargeron. She leaves to cherish her memory, sisters Ruth "Jeankie" Rewis and Myrtice Gustafson along with her daughter Sherry Harrell (Allen) and cherished Grandsons Joey (Mandy) Bargeron and Andy Bargeron. Even more precious to her were her Great Grandchildren Silas and Preston Bargeron. Also surviving is step-son John Edward Wood, Jr. and his daughter, granddaughters and grandson. She has many nieces, nephews and distant relatives along with friends that she dearly loved. Her proven ancestry enabled her to join the Colonial Dames of the 17th Century as well as the Daughters of the American Revolution.
She will be laid to rest between her husband Ed and daughter Wendy at Jones Cemetery in Callahan, FL. on Monday January 15, 2024 at 1:00pm.
