Maurice Hannaford

March 29, 1935 — April 14, 2015

Maurice W. Hannaford, 80 of Folkston passed away April 14, 2015. He was born March 29, 1935 in Charlton County to J.O. and Thelma Gowen Hannaford.  He served his country in the United States Army. Maurice retired from the United States Postal Service, was a past Master of Folkston Masonic Lodge No. 196 F &AM and was a member of the Folkston United Methodist Church. He had a servant’s heart in caring for others in extending a kindness, a generous man always the gentleman. He loved life, family and his many friends; he had a great sense of humor and a beautiful smile. He knew how to make you feel welcome and make you feel good. He would say, it’s not the destination, it’s the journey. His favorite scripture Ecclesiastes 7:1: A good name is better than fine perfume, and the day of death better than the day of birth.
Survivors include his wife: Linda W. Hannaford of Folkston, Ga.; a daughter: Sandra Reese of Waycross, Ga.; two brothers: James O. Hannaford, Jr. “Jacki”; George L. Hannaford of Woodbine, Ga.; a sister: Gloria Meryl Lloyd(Glenn) of Folkston, Ga.; three Grandchildren, four Great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A Memorial service will be held Sunday, April 19, 2015 at the Folkston United Methodist Church at 3:00 PM.
