Ralph Carey Marr, Sr.

Ralph C. Marr, 88, of Kingsland, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 12, 2025.

Born on January 9, 1937, in Folkston, Georgia, Ralph was the son of the late Euley D. Marr and Francis Phillips Marr. He spent most of his life on the family property in Camden County, a place he cherished and called home.

Ralph proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. Shortly after enlisting, he met the love of his life, Betsy Rose Lord Marr. The two were married on January 12, 1958, and shared a deep, enduring love until her passing earlier this year. Together, they built a life centered on family, raising four children with strong values and love.

After his military service, Ralph took on a variety of roles that reflected his hardworking and versatile spirit. He worked at Gilman Paper Company, a recycling company in Chicago, and the Camden County Public Works department. He also owned and operated a service station and a chicken farm, before becoming a heavy equipment mechanic with Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay Base Operating Services Contractor. He retired at the age of 62, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and integrity.

Known for his loyalty, steady nature, and tireless work ethic, Ralph was a man who could always be counted on. He also had a lighter side—a playful jokester who brought smiles and laughter to those around him.

Ralph was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betsy R. Marr; his son, Ralph Jr.; and two granddaughters, Jessica Williams Walborn and Lisa Muse.

He is survived by his daughters, Gloria Faye Muse, Donna Sue Marr, and Janice Lynn Kosik (Dennis); his son, Ralph W. Marr (Stephanie); his twin brother, Ray A. Marr; and his sister, Juanita Brooks. He also leaves behind a legacy of love through his grandchildren: Allison Krause (Chase), Joshua Muse (Amanda), Chrissie Walker (Michael), Melinda Chester (Ahmed), Amber Cash (Robert), Samantha Gibson (Michael), Ivy Daniels (Paul), and Mallory Rutledge (Matthew); 26 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Ralph will be remembered as a devoted husband, a proud father and grandfather, and a man whose quiet strength and warm humor touched the lives of many. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, May 16 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Shepard-Roberson Funeral Home, 526 Oakwood Street, Folkston, GA.
