Robert Chancey

Robert Melvin Chancey, 82 of Gautier Mississippi passed away May 1, 2015 in Singing River Hospital, Pascagoula, Mississippi. He was born August 27, 1932 to Clyde Toomer Chancey and Roslyn Morgan Woodson Chancey Boyle in Jacksonville, Florida.  He served his country in the United States Air Force and also worked for Seaboard Coast Line/CSX Railroad for 40 years. He was an avid Ham Radio Operator (K4YAW),a member of County Cousins, the Masons and was a Genealogy Researcher, an avid Huntsman and fisherman. He was member of Midway Baptist Church in Whitesville, Georgia and attended First Baptist Church in Gautier, Mississippi.
Robert is survived by his wife: Ione Chancey of Sumpter, SC; two sons: Guy Chancey of West Point, Ga.; Raymond Chancey of Virginia; a daughter: Janet Chancey Fischer(Jeff); two Granddaughters: Lynda and Sarah Fischer, all of Gautier, MS; Grandson: Robert Fischer; one Great-granddaughter: Gabriella Fischer; Former Spouse and mother of his children: Voncille Robbins Chancey of West Point, Ga.; In-Laws: David Robbins (Doris), Claudia Campbell Robbins; Juanita Robbins Powell(Gerald), Martha Robbins Hamilton(Quinton); Elaine Robbins Hanei(Brad); Donna Robbins; Daniel Robbins; seven Nieces, three Nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law: Raymond Robbins.
A Graveside Service will be held Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at 7:00 AM in Sardis Cemetery with Linda Chancey officiating.
The family requested Memorial contributions be made to a local animal shelter of choice; Gautier First Baptist Church building fund or Sardis Cemetery Fund.
