Ruby Jo Thrift Ricketson

Ruby Thrift Ricketson, 78, of Blackshear, GA passed away Sunday, March 19 at Hospice Satilla in Waycross, GA following a lengthy illness.  She was born in Homerville, GA to the late Janard Thrift and Delia Mae O’Niel Thrift.  She was a faithful member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Blackshear. 

In addition to parents, she was preceded in death by her husband:  L.O. “Bud” Ricketson; 2-sisters:  Lottie Berry and Mary Hendrix and a brother:  Buck Thrift.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law:  Rick and Brandy Ricketson; daughter and son-in-law:  Connie and Shawn Smith; 5-grandchildren:  Tatum Ricketson, Sam Ricketson, Layne Ricketson, Reid Smith, Reegan Smith; 3-sisters:  Bobbie Bennett, Sylvia Grey, Ann York and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday, March 22 at 2:00 PM at Emmanuel Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the church an hour prior to the service.

Memorialization will be by cremation.  Interment will be held in Oakland Cemetery at a later date.
