Ruth Mizell O'Quinn

Ruth Mizell O’Quinn, 95, of Fernandina Beach, FL went to meet the Lord on February 3, 2024.  She was born in Charlton County, GA on January 26, 1929 to the late Jack Mizell and Nolie Carter Mizell Crews.  Ruth Loved to go to church and listen to gospel music.  She was of the Pentecostal faith.  Ruth met her late husband, Jesse O’Quinn, a man just out of the military at a dance.  They soon married on August 3, 1946 and moved to Fernandina Beach, FL in the late 1950’s.   Ruth worked for Gilman Paper Bag Company in St. Marys, GA as an inspector until retiring.  

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents:  Jack Mizell and Nolie Carter Mizell Crews; a son:  Johnny J. O’Quinn; a brother:  Tommy Mizell and 2-sisters:  Laura M. Warren and Jessie Mae Burch.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law:  Kathie and John Lyle; a daughter-in-law:  Brenda O’Quinn; 6-grandchildren:  Mandy (Mitch) Purvis of Fernandina Beach, FL, Stacey (Greg) Supianoski of Pittsburg, PA,   Jennifer (Victor) Deacon of Yulee, FL, Brian (Renee) O’Quinn of St. Marys, GA, Joey (Chrissy) O’Quinn of Yulee, FL, Karen (Michael) Weeks of Fernandina Beach, FL; 11-great grandchildren:   Abigail Purvis, Jackson & Caleb Supianoski, Julius, Emmett & Paisley Deacon, Alec O’Quinn, Taylor & Brayden O’Quinn, Waylon & Ruthie Weeks; a sister:  Juanita Mock of Folkston, GA; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 10:30 in the chapel of Shepard-Roberson Funeral Home.  Ruth will be laid to rest in Bachlott Cemetery.
