Steven Ronny Canaday of St. George, Georgia, born September 25, 1953, in Folkston, Georgia, passed away January 21, 2026, in Jacksonville Florida after a lengthy illness. Steven was born to the late Joseph and Elender Canaday.
He was preceded in death by his daughter: Belinda Canaday; his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Junior Knox and Gertrude Knox; father-in-law: Troy Maddox; brothers-in-laws: Lannis Maddox, Mitchell Smith, Donald, Gerald, David, and Gene Knox; 2 nephews: Scott Strickland and Eric Johns; and a great-niece: Ella Nancy Brock.
Steven worked for the State of Florida for 35 years. He was an avid hunter that loved the outdoors. He loved NASCAR and being at the racetrack. But most importantly Steven loved his wife of 49 years and family. His grandchildren was his most prized possession.
He is survived by his wife: Betty Ladell Canaday; daughter: Stephanie Canaday (Buddy Howard); granddaughter: Halynn Howard; 2 grandsons: Holden and Hampton Howard; brother: Donnie(Wanda) Canaday; sisters-in-law: Brenda Johnson, Sabrina (Abe) Flowers, Pam Smith (Nick Wayson), Ladonna Maddox, Nelda (Robert) Manning, Ann (Dennis) Horne, Trisha (Alton) Trouille, Diane Knox; brothers-in law: Wayne (Gail) Knox, Ricky Knox, Earl (Trina) Knox, and Joe (Bonnie) Knox; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
A service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at St. George Church of God with Pastor Ricky Knox and Pastor Grady Albritton officiating. Burial will follow in Conner-Green Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Buckhorn Hunting Club Members. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Powell, Mason Pair, Dakota Spivey and Clint Stivenver.
