WILLIAM RAY, SR.

William Arnold Ray Sr.  , of Folkston passed away Saturday evening at Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville. He was born July 29, 1948 to the late Arlie Bige and Essie Mae Ray of Ray City Georgia.
William was a long time truck driver for a variety of local logging companies. Known as "SwitchBlade" to all of the drivers that knew him.  William loved spending his time with family, traveling and making many memorable trips to the "mountains". To his grands and great grands he was known as "Papa".  He and his wife Joyce Ray attend  Philadelphia Free Will Baptist Church of Folkston.
Survivors include his loving wife Joyce Ann Ray of Folkston; Brother, Eddie (Elizabeth) Ray, Sister , Betty Jean (Gordon) Summerlin,  three daughters, Tammy (Adam) Bell of Folkston, JoAnn (Kevin) Johns of HIlliard Florida, Christine (Paul) Steedley of Hilliard Florida, son, Billy (Kristen) Ray of Hilliard Florida. Grandchildren; Rebecca, Tiffany, Jessica, Justin, Aj. Joanna, Lindsey, Dylon, Cameron, Cole, Cade. Garrett, Hannah, Wyatt, Luke. And seven great grandchildren. Ciera, Hunter, Tyler, Jayden, Lane, Colby, Gannon.  As well nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 23 at Shepard Funeral Home in Folkston, GA from 6-8 PM.  Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 24 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Shepard Funeral Home with Rev. Parnell Aldridge officiating.  Burial will follow in Pigeon Creek Cemetery.
