William Curby Sanderson, 87, of Kingsland, GA passed away at his home on Tuesday, January 20, 2026. He was born in Folkston, GA on April 11, 1938, to the late Jimmy Sanderson and Nomie Knowles Sanderson Cartrette. A longtime member of Ruhamah Baptist Church, William’s faith and trust was in the Lord Jesus Christ. William loved being outdoors gardening, hunting and fishing. He was an avid Georgia Bulldogs and Charlton County Indians fan. William was a Mason at the Masonic Lodge for over 50 years. His family was his most prized possession. He loved having a house full of family and laughter.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife: Jimmie Jane Sanderson; 3-brothers: Claude Sanderson, James Sanderson and Clyde Sanderson; and 2-sisters: Juanita Sanderson Teston and Annette Davis.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years: Mary Horne Sanderson; 5-daughters: Linda Johnson (Jim), Brenda Horne (Russell), Jimmie Jane Grantham, Beth Figueria (Goldwyn) and Glenda Nettles (Jamie); 5-sisters: Elizabeth Barlow, Coyann Davis, Reba Tripp, Velma Combs and Shirley Geiger; 12-grandchildren: Tiffany, Gabe, Bryan, Whitney, Kirby, Tia, Amber, Hal, Haley, Sygan, Elizabeth and Jimmy; 19-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives that loved and adored him.
A service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 23, 2026, at Shepard-Roberson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Pineview Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Bryan Stephens, Hal Gowen, Gabe Hamilton, Jimmy Nettles, Daniel Bushby, Chris Cleveland, Dylan Reynolds, Steve Turner, Tyler Morgan and Jesús Villanueva.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Heartland Hospice.
